Ayla Networks Announces Support for Xiaowei AI service solution by Tencent Cloud

Chinese Entrant Aims to Challenge Apple Siri, Amazon Alexa, Google Home Assistant

June 27, 2017

Ayla Networks, a global Internet of Things (IoT) platform for manufacturers, today announced support for QCloud Xiaowei, a new AI service solution by Tencent Cloud, a leading provider of Internet value-added services in China. Tencent launched QCloud Xiaowei on June 21 at the 2017 Tencent “Cloud + Future” Summit as a competitor in China to existing voice assistants such as Apple Siri, Amazon Alexa and Google Home Assistant.

During the Tencent event, Ayla demonstrated voice control through QCloud Xiaowei of a number of smart products built on the Ayla IoT platform, including an Aucma wine cooler, Dooya smart blinds, Hisense dehumidifier, Midea clothes washer, Power 7 smart plug and TCL air conditioner.

“The ability to interact with connected products using voice interaction is becoming increasingly important in smart home environments, especially for products that have no keyboards or screens,” said Phillip Chang, co-founder, VP and general manager of Greater China for Ayla Networks. “With its extremely large user base, Tencent is well positioned to gain market share throughout China with its QCloud Xiaowei AI service solution. Support for the Tencent technology in the Ayla IoT platform will enable manufacturers to more quickly launch smart home products that respond to users’ voice commands via QCloud Xiaowei.”

Ayla’s IoT platform provides comprehensive device, cloud and mobile app connectivity for any kind of product. The Ayla platform not only speeds manufacturers’ time to market for connected products, it also handles the intricacies of IoT security, performance, scalability and interoperability. As a result, manufacturers can focus on what they do best, while using the real-world knowledge gained from their connected products to improve multiple aspects of their business.
