Manufacturing Companies can More Easily Expand Their Market Reach in China

Ayla Networks, whose agile Internet of Things (IoT) platform provides comprehensive connectivity for any kind of product, announced the release of an IoT integration with Weixin, the leading Chinese social communication platform that is the world’s fastest-growing social app. Weixin, offered as WeChat outside of China, is a service of Tencent, China’s largest Internet service portal. Ayla’s Weixin Proxy Service is an IoT portal for the connected home that will allow manufacturers to quickly and easily get their products connected under the Weixin ‘mega’ app in China.

“Weixin is the go-to social, mobile and commerce hub for hundreds of millions of Chinese consumers who ‘live’ on Weixin for hours each day,” said Phillip Chang, Ayla Networks co-founder and general manager of Greater China. “Ayla’s new connected home portal means that these users can now use Weixin to control physical devices in their homes as easily as they now control their virtual activities through Weixin.”

The Ayla IoT portal, or Proxy Service, on Weixin provides manufacturers with the technology they need to launch connected home products that are controlled by the Weixin app. To its IoT platform, Ayla now has added admin tools and application programming interfaces (APIs) that support Weixin integration.

“Manufacturers in China using Ayla’s Weixin Proxy Service get to market with branded Weixin services faster and more cost-effectively, compared to doing their own mobile app development,” said Chang. “And U.S. and European manufacturers can use the Ayla portal to reach a huge number of Weixin users in China, as well as to increase their brand awareness in the Chinese market.”

Chinese Manufacturers Embrace Ayla IoT Weixin/WeChat Proxy Service

Already, a number of manufacturers in China have used the Ayla IoT portal on Weixin to start developing Weixin-controlled products for the connected home. The companies and their products include: Devotion, residential boilers; Happycable, smart plugs and smart locks; Ozner, water filters; and Shenzhen Orena Group, smart lights.

“The Weixin proxy service provided by Ayla Networks enables more intimate contact between Ozner’s products and Chinese users, bringing customers a better product experience,” said WenJian Jiang, vice president of Ozner, the largest office and commercial drinking water filtration company in China. “The Ayla Weixin proxy service connects Ozner’s products with millions of Weixin users, which brings higher user awareness and brand exposure for Ozner.”

“Convenience really matters for connected products, and the Ayla Weixin proxy service provides users with a convenient and practical Weixin service,” said Bell Yu, general manager of Happycable Electronic Co. Ltd., a high-quality manufacturer of standard and custom cable assemblies, adapters and electromechanical wiring harnesses. “More importantly, because of the security, stability, and scalability of the Ayla IoT platform, Happycable doesn’t have to worry about product functionality or user experience while we enjoy a sales surge.”

The Ayla agile IoT platform encompasses device, cloud, and mobile app connectivity. It allows manufacturers to get secure, reliable connected products to market with minimal time, cost, and effort. Manufacturers can then use the real-world knowledge gained from data generated by the connected devices to improve their product offerings and business operations.
